Data-driven analytical mechanics of aging viscoelastic shotcrete tunnel shells

Abstract Based on the principle of virtual power, equilibrium conditions are established for forces within a cross section tunnel top heading driven according New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM). External forces, namely impost actions and ground pressure distributions following third-order polynomial, analytically linked with internal such as axial bending moments, arising integrals over shell thickness, circumferential normal stresses. The latter related, via an aging viscoelastic shotcrete material model, to strains, well radial displacement components. This allows analytical transformation measurement data collected at crown footings segment, into action evolutions, together all associated force stress quantities. For Sieberg tunnel, in Miocene clay marl, our data-driven mechanics model evidences virtually uniform distributions, leading first rapidly increasing, then mildly decreasing utilization degree shell.
